How hungry were you when bf?

I am breastfeeding my 14 week old on demand plus one bottle of formula in the evening. I am really hungry all the time, particularly for sweet things. I have not lost that much weight - am still bigger than I was before pregnancy. Is this normal? All I want is cake and chocolate! I even have a chocolate biscuit with my breakfast, I just have such a craving for it...worried I am becoming very unhealthy!

Unbelievably. Search out healthy foods and snacks. Don't have the chocolate - it does some chemical change - I can hardly remember - and isn't good for the baby.
Early breastfeeding (I went on for over four years) was the only time when I've ever eaten two chip shop meals in a day.

I think it's a bit of a myth that bf makes you lose a lot of weight.

I wasn't any hungrier than normal when bf but looking back I hadn't been that hungry in pregnancy either. How was your diet when you were pregnant? This time round I've eaten TONS in pregnancy so I know I'll struggle to get back to normal eating once DDs born.

At that point, I was as hungry as I was during pregnancy, where I would often have two dinners.

Just go with it, don't starve yourself, but try things like smaller amounts of dark chocolate, chocolate milkshake etc so you don't overdo it on sweets if worried about diet? I haven't heard about any chemical changes for baby so I wouldn't worry about that.

Totally starving. All the time. I think I had 2 breakfasts most days.
I also craved sweet things which is unlike me as I'm a savoury snacker. I'd allow myself a couple of more biccys than usual but I ate a lot of fruit/crackers/nuts.

Very! I used to have to go downstairs in the middle of the night & demolish a huge bowl of weetabix or some toast before I could go back to sleep. That was just for the first few months then it settled down.

I would have eaten my own arm. Ravenous.

OMG I was starving constantly. DS fed non stop and I had to have cereal bars and dried fruit by the bedside at night.
Didn't lose any weight breast feeding either of mine. It's a myth, well it was for me!
However after a couple of years (no serious dieting) was back to pre pregnancy weight (BMI 19-20) as am naturally a healthy eater.

Well my 8mo is down to 4/5 feeds a day and today (admittedly a poor day diet wise) I had two chocolate digestives, a chocolate bar, some mini eggs and some carrot cake alongside my normal food. I'm just enjoying my increased capacity while it lasts!

I was ravenous all the time, but ate loads of chocolate and ended up heavier than when I got pregnant!

Ravenous. At around 14 weeks was probably my hungriest period, I’d have scrambled eggs made with 4 eggs plus toast plus a smoothie for breakfast... :) And there’s also a looot of chocolate being eaten. I try to make sure the choc is good quality, though, high in cocoa and no weird additives.
