So my 1 week old is formula fed and taking around 4oz every 2 hours!! She was a big chunky baby at birth weighing 8lb7. I'm just wondering if every 2 hours seems a bit much? She's not sick after and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

Yes day and night she is waking for a bottle every 2 hours. Sometimes she will take 3oz then what half an hour and take the other 1oz. She hasn't done a poo in over 24hrs and we've just got this nappy! It's like a strange waxy texture and she looked in pain whilst doing it! After this part was out it was back to being normal texture and runny..sorry for the gross picture 💩💩💩💩

Unless they are actually screaming their little heads off whilst pooing, it's pretty normal for them to look uncomfortable and nothing to worry about. It's a new sensation for them and it takes a while for babies to get used to pooing.

4 floz every 2 hours does seem like she may be overfeedihg a little.

She should be having roughly 2.5 floz per pound in weight.

I don't think it's anything really to worry about at this age as lots of babies catch up after birth and find a new centile and keep to it, but it might be worth mentioning to the MW how much over she is on the recommended amount per day Smile

Morning folks! OP - hope you don't mind but we've added a little warning to the title. We know baby poo is a fact of life but just in case anyone's reading this over their Saturday morning Weetabix we thought we'd let them know!

Are you making the bottles up correctly as in measuring the water, then adding powder? It's important to get the concentration right or it can make the poo harder to pass.
