Weaning off milk- questions

So my DS is 15mo, he sleeps terribly and wakes 4/5 times every night for milk. I've kept breast feeding him as he loves it so much, would be mean to try and stop? I just wonder if we would all get a bit more sleep that way, but not sure if I'm being selfish as I know it's good for him.

When did you stop feeding, and how?

DD was formula feed and stopped naturally at 13 months but she regularly woke for a cuddle or a chat Hmm

I stopped when DS was 13months as it stopped sending him back to sleep and I ended up jigging and singing him to sleep. I just cut the feed out and went straight to the jigging and singing.

I gradually reduced the amount of feeds at night until my ds was having none. So initially he was having feeds every 1hr and a half (it was exhausting!!) so I then would only feed him after 1hr 45mins. Then after a few night every 2 hrs then 2 hrs 15 etc. If fe woke early I would rock, sing, etc until he either went back to sleep or the time was up. It was a long process but it worked really well. I also taught him to go to sleep by himself in the evening by gradually giving him less support. I did both at the same time and actually found that he slept an extra hour at a time every week or so. Once we got to 12 hours a night he was fantastic and we never had to repeat it.

Around 2ish for overnights. I wore high next pjs, offered the baby to OH instead. I took the easiest path for me with both babies. DS1 started sleeping through on his own accord and DS2 is heading that way too.
