Infant feeding

So how long does this 4 month growth spurt last then?

There have been lots of posts on this and I wonder how long it usually goes on for. My son used to wake once or twice a night but now its about 4 times and he is always hungry. It must have been going on for a week or two now and am shattered. I do not want to give solids because that is what I did with my older child and it made him worse because fruit and veg and baby rice contain less calories.

Apologies to those whose children wake more than this, I salute you!

This happened to dd at this age, she went back to normal after 2-3 weeks and then was fine on milk until 6 months.

sorry, i don't have any real suggestions, but if you need a bit of moral support while your dealing with sleep deprivation, a few of us sleepless types hang out at:

sleep is for the weak

one thought is that maybe at this age they start to get a bit distracted during the day and don't take in as much, so try to make up for it at night.

hope it calms down soon for you.

thanks for that I'll check it out. Its annoying because I seem to have made friends with mother of babies who sleep through the night and they still complain about being tired, aagh

yeah i was the same when LO was little. i'd be up every 1 1/2 hours at night and half to sleep with him in my arms half the night and i'd be at a group the next day with some poor mother complaining she was tired because she had to get up at 6am (her baby slept from 8pm to 6am though )

rest assured there are some terrible sleepers on sleep is for the weak!

With DS2 it lasted 3-4 weeks for us, and like a PP said was made worse by the fact that he was easily distracted from a BF during the day so was taking more during the night.

It seemed like it was lasting forever but then one night he just stopped waking so much and went back to waking once or not at all in the night. DS2 is now just over 5 months and still easily distracted during the day Hang in there!
