How to begin weaning from bf

I'm really ready to start to stop bf my 11mo. He won't take a bottle but his quantities from a cup are increasing.

He relies on bf for some naps and also tends to have a small feed overnight.

I think bf is contributing towards his poor sleep as he likes to comfort suck to calm to sleep.

I'm over it to be honest. I want decent bras again. I want to be able to go away overnight without worrying. I want DH to be able to do more in the nights. I'm tired. Very tired. He's up every couple of hours. I also have a 23mo so between the two of them I'm just worn out.

I don't know where to start

I know it might sound harsh but can you wait until he’s a year and then you won’t need to faff with formula because he can go onto cows milk? Have you tried nightweaning him? I also followed the “don’t offer, don’t refuse” method which meant she only fed before bed. She’s now self-weaned at 17 months. Why does your husband not help at night? Mine used to try and settle her rather than me because if I went in she just wanted boobs whereas he could settle her back to sleep. This was really helpful drjaygordon.com/attachment/sleeppattern.html Also look at Sarah Ockwell-Smith’s website.

He's not far off of one now - only three weeks to go. I'm not hideously desperate to wean instantly but over the next few months maybe.

I just hate hearing him cry for me. DH has exams first week in January so I might go on strike for the nights after that. That might be a good plan. Thankyou.

I think I've fallen into the human dummy trap.

Think I read jay Gordon. I loosely follow that in terms.of once he's in his.cot I won't picl him up
