I have just defrosted some milk i had frozen (it was frozen immedeiately after expressed approx 6 weeks ago) and it smells kind of metallic, is it off?

Never noticed a smell after I've defrosted mine. If you froze it immediately and defrosted it properly there is no reason (IMO) it should be "off".

could be an excess of enzyme lipase in milk, that breaks down fat see http:kellymom.com/bf/pumping/lipase-expressedmilk.html

Aparently warming it can help, so if your dc drinks it warm there shouldn't be a problem.

my ebm smells trongly sometimes too - maybe I'd had too much garlic before expressing that day?? Anyway DD2 has never said no to any defrosted ebm even when I thought it smelt dodgy
