Am I panicking over nothing???

FTM! My little girl is 12 days old. I had preeaclampsia and was told she wasn't growing enough and she would be about 5lb 5oz at the last growth scan. I had her at 37weeks and she was 6lb 4oz. She was absolutely perfect and there were no issues, until it came to feeding. She just got very sleepy and wouldn't take more than 15mls. The midwife would wake her and force feed her but her blood sugars we're good and rising. We still struggled abit when we got home the next day but she is taking around 70 to 90ml per feed now. She went down to 6 1oz and just had her weighed yesterday and she is now 6lbs and 8oz. She seems to sleep SO much! It's now been nearly 5 hours since her last feed and I said I would stop panicking about her feeds as she is clearly doing well. There is so much conflicting advice on weather to wake her or not. I'm at my wit's end and I don't know to stick to feeding on demand. Please help!!

Feeding on demand is fine. Believe me, babies let you know when they're hungry!! Congratulations on your little girl Smile

Is she possibly jaundiced? Maybe even mildly as that will make her sleep. I would wake at least every 3 hours at that age. The more milk she has the quicker she will wake up, if that makes sense?

I’d wake to feed at least every 3 hours in the day then let her sleep at night.

I'd wake every 3 to 4 hours during the day for a feed and at that age at least once overnight. But try just gently lifting her and putting the bottle in her mouth, and see if she'll dream feed so not a full light on, nappy changed and trying to wake her feed! As she gets bigger it'll be easier to let he sleep without worrying but at that age I prob wouldn't let her go longer than the 4 hours without trying her with a feed.

It’s perfectly normal for babies to lose some weight initially but regain by about end of second week. I think I’d wake her three hourly during the day.

Thanks for all the replies! She is in a good routine during the day every 3 hours at the lastest, just seems to be at night she likes to sleep through. Had hv round today and she is very happy with her progress. I've not been discharged from the midwife as my blood pressure is still highish, so feel good she is still going to get weighed and monitored 😊 OH says we should stick with on demand at night and she seems fine with that so will just have to see how we get on. Thanks again ladies 😊
