my 3 month old baby has just made the transition from breast feeding to formula, she used b/feed every 2 hours for 5/10 mins (efficent eater!) so have tried to move her to 4/5 ozs every 3 hours EASY rather than the 6oz every 4 hours, the main prob is that she isn't taking her 30ozs from 7am to 7pm and will only takes 2/3ozs sometimes which means of course that she continues to wake at night at 2 and 5am and then she appears to be starving and will happily down 6!! we have started a dream feed at 11pm also. last nite i reduced her 2 am and 5 am to 3 and 2oz which she wasn't impressed with but assumed she would then be hungry for her 7am but no once again 3 ozs....i am using aptamil 1 and avent bottles and size 2 teats....any advice welcome..

Hi weston,

I also switched from bf to bottle at 3 months (not my choice but ds refused to feed - the cheek!) and used Aptamil although with tommee tippee bottles.

He moved quckly to a 3 hourly 6oz 7am/10am/1pm/4pm/7pm/10.30pm/5.30am routine (mixture of EASY and contended baby). by 4 months this has become 4 hourly with no dream or 5am feed (.

Maybe your dd is ready to go 4 hours between feeds and take more at each one? I know this seems v. long after breastfeeding but some babies can go 4 hours frm the word go (hard to imagine tho'!).

Another though harder tack is to give her v. watered down milk during the night to see if that increases her appetite for her 7am bottle.

hope this helps
