Infant feeding

24 weeks and still no colostrum - is this normal?

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and this time in my last pregnancy I was leaking colostrum and could express it easily. This time I can do neither. My DS bit me quite badly a few times when I weaned him a month or two ago. Could this be a sign of damage or is it normal.

I had such problems breastfeeding my DS, but we cracked it eventually and it was fantastic. I would be so devestated if I couldn't breastfeed this next one.

I didn't have a whiff of anything until ds was born, and we b/fed fine, so don't worry. I think it is another one of those many pregnancy variables!

I had not a jot until baby arrived. Was told at the time this was pretty normal.

I had absolutely nothing until DD was born and am bf fine. I was worried about it too as all the pregnancy books / 'timelines' I read seemed to imply that it's bound to happen in pregnancy. I asked GP about it in the end who said it certainly doesn't happen in every pregnancy.

The only sign of any milk I got at all during pregnancy was a teeny damp bit on my t-shirt the night before I went into labour.

Did you try and express any?

Never had a drop of colostrum before DS was born and never leaked a drop except for the day the milk came in...but he is still only having breastmilk (well solids but no formula I mean) at nearly 9m. Perfectly normal

I'm no expert but I would have thought it was have to be a very serious bite with scars to cause a problem.
