Formula feeding whilst out and about

I've been looking into this and talking to people as I'm trying to work out the best way to make up formula feed whilst out and about.

In my head, I will take a small flask of boiling water, a flask of cooled boiled water and when bottles are needed, add the hot water to formula and then add the cooled water.

How do you do it? I'm sure this has been asked a lot but I'm just looking into the best ways

I always made bottles in advance to avoid having to mess about when they were actually needed.
I simply boiled the kettle, waited 30 minutes for it to cool, made the bottles and allowed them to cool naturally at room temperature. When they had I stored them in the fridge, they can be kept for up to 24 hours.
To warm them up at home I used a jug and boiling water. When we were out I had a travel bottle warmer, which was basically a flask with a cover/ lid. You filled the flask with boiling water, and when you wanted to warm the bottle you would pour the water into the lid and put the bottle in.
So much easier than having to make as you need, especially when out. And I hate the idea of a machine to do it for you so wouldn't have that either.

Could you use ready made when you're out? Then you don't have to worry about temperature or making it up.

Or, some people make up a bottle or two and flash cool, then keep them in a really good cool bag until they're needed. I think up to 4 hours, if the cool bag keeps them properly cold.

We use the premade bottles, if you don't happen to use them they aren't wasted, how much is your LO drinking at the moment?

I would often use the premade stuff at room temp or keep a flash cooled one in a cool bag and heat it wherever I was. Just depended on the situation

Thank you for your replies - We have a mix of premade bottles and ready made liquid at the moment, Im just looking into my options going forward

I used to either use ready made bottles (expensive) or just make them up before I left the house and gave them to the baby cold. I never had any problems but I know that is not the advice given

I used the ready made cartons poured into a pre sterilised bottle with my first. If a feed was likely imminent enough, I’d make it at home and just put in my bag to cool to feed (so she usually had a bottle at 10am, so if it was 9am and I was packing to go out, I’d just make it then. She would finish it within 2 hours So was fine). For later in the day though definitely ready made cartons. They weren’t too expensive and I didn’t go out every day so it was worth the extra expense to avoid the hassle. I spent ten minutes in a Costa toilet trying to cool a freshly made bottle while holding a screaming baby once and once was enough for me!

Just get the ready made cartons and thrown one into your bag along with a sterilised bottle, when it’s time for a feed just pour. Unless your baby is on a prescription milk that doesn’t come ready made I really don’t understand why you’d want to faff with flasks of water and powder when there’s no need. Yes they’re more expensive but it’s negligible if you only use them when out and about (80p-ish per feed) and stick to powder at home.

I have always taken the ready made bottles. More expensive but I find it's easier.

I use the HIPP organic ready made cartons a bit of a faff as you need scissors but so much easier than trying to use the powder.

I never found an easy way to do it so I just use readymade bottles. :)
