Toddler won't drink cows milk

He's 18 months and, apart from a splash on cereal, won't touch the stuff. I've tried warming it, flavouring it, he's just not interested. I still bf so never bothered about it, but I'm 16 weeks pregnant now and my milk is starting to dry up so I'm getting anxious. My understanding was that there are fats only found in mammalian milk that are essential for brain growth at this age, so I'm worried he's not getting enough. He eats plenty of cheese, yoghurt, butter etc - is that just as good? If not, what can I try instead? Thanks.

Ds has never been keen on his milk either. I find it works to give him a cup at his highchair first thing in morning so he can drink it while I’m preparing his breakfast. He can’t get it fast enough and this is the only time of day he will entertain it. Aside from this I put lots of cheese and milk in his food and he eats yoghurt and plenty diary etc. Have you tried this?

Same prob here, bf toddler won’t touch it apart from cereal. He sipped a chocolate milkshake a few days ago ( box drink one with straw) made the most funny yucky face and then licked me a few times grin

Have you tried straws etc?

I’ve even tried semi skimmed and skimmed milk just as an introduction, but he won’t drink it. Will drink a boxed smoothie so my next thought is to try mixing some milk into one of those ?! I just don’t know if it’s worth the hassle for such a small amount.

DS only took cows milk in a baby bottle and still very rarely drinks it.

Maybe try goat's milk.

But I wouldn't worry too much.

I give a daily multi vitamin as well as figure the extra won’t do any harm.

Dd will drink goats milk, so maybe try that? Arla also do something called “Big Milk” (worst name) but she will drink that quite happily as well. But plain cows milk, absolutely no chance!

We are the only species on the planet that drink another animals milk beyond the point of weaning.

Your DC doesn't "need" milk, he needs a nutrient rich diet. If he doesn't like or want milk, then he will survive just fine.

My Dd never took cows milk - I bf'd until 15 months as she wouldn't take a bottle or formula. I could put it in porridge, and she would occasionally have yogurt, but didn't like cheese. She's 13 now and still has dry cereal, and won't eat cheese. It doesn't seem to have done her any harm.

Arla big milk is what dh has. It’s just ordinary cows milk with some vitamins in. It’s made me same company that make cravendale.
