(5 Posts)I’m trying to stop breastfeeding my 18 month old and transfer her to a bottle for her morning and evening feeds. However although she will happily take a bottle from DH she simply pushes it away when I try and give her one. Any ideas? I want her to still have some milk. Should I let DH do all morning and night shifts for a week or so? Or just give up on milk at these set times altogether and just try her with a cup of milk with breakfast etc?
Place marking as would like advice too!
I'd just try with a cup of milk with breakfast, and not worry too much about whether much gets drunk.
I wouldn’t bother with the bottle at 18m. Offer a cup, if she doesn’t want it then no worries. I stopped bf my first at about 14months and she would never drink milk. I made up cereal with lots of milk (porridge/ weetabix) and cheese/ yoghurt in the day so plenty of dairy.
Agree with the others, if you want to stop, just stop. Both of mine had a clear break between stopping Bfing and accepting cow’s milk as a drink.
