im a first time mum and my due date is in the next week and I am wanting to express my milk and store this up so my partner can share the feeding.

Would you advise that the same brand of electric pump is to be used as my bottles/pouches I.e Tommie tippee

or can I just use any electric breast pump and transfer the milk to the pouches.

Hi OP. I'm a first time mum as well. I found the electric pumps personally bloody useless and have had much better luck with a manual pump. However, I pump milk into the bottle that came with it and pour it into separate containers, it doesn't matter which brand

I am currently feeding my ds (dc2) with mainly breast milk from a bottle, plus some breast feeds and formula top ups. So, I pump rather a lot! If you are planning to pump a lot, then I would say a hospital grade, double pump is the best thing. You can hire a really good version directly from Medela, (it’s called Symphony), or older ones from NCT, (which is what I have and it does the job). I get out between 100 and 200mls in a sitting, (3 weeks pp).

I tried a manual Tommee Tippee with dc1 and found it really rubbish, but that might just have been my technique / lack of supply.

I used a Medela Symphony (double electric) in hospital after I had my DS. It was amazing - definitely recommend!
