Hello ladies quick question, my daughter is 8 months old and I’ve been breastfeeding her since she was born. At first it was hard but since then we’ve got the hang of it. But a few days ago my boob started hurting really bad and I thought that I was just full because that’s what it felt like, but I wasn’t :-( and now for days no matter how much baby feeds it just feels full and bruised even though it’s not :-( and ideas because I don’t want to have to go to the doctors if I don’t have to xxxxx

Sounds like it could be a blockage, I had this when DD was about 10 months and got mastitis. Can you feel any hard little lumps in your breast or nipple? The only thing to do is keep feeding from that breast (but don't give up on the other side or the same thing might happen!) and try to massage your breast towards the nipple to clear the blockage, a hot hot bath was helpful for me too. It took me about three days to get the blockage out, my sympathies because it can get quite painful.

But if it persists you might need antibiotics, don't keep yourself in pain unnecessarily. Give natural methods like massage a chance but sometimes a trip to the doctor is the only way to resolve it.

I used to use a heat pad (not too warm) to ease blockages, but if this has been going on in the same place for a few days I'd get to the doctor, I'm afraid.

Thank you both! I’ve got a hot water bottle on it now just enough to feel the warmth and it’s really helping!! Xxxx
