Which bottles to buy?

Hi guys just looking for some advice on what bottles to buy?

I want the wider neck bottles for ease of use but not sure which to go for. So I go for the market leader Tommee Tippee or the likes of MAM? I’ve heard Avent leak?

I need help from some mummies that have tried and tested these lines so I don’t waste my money.

Any help appreciated 😁

We used Nuk as that was the teat provided in the hospital for top ups. Never tried any other brand as they worked so well for us

Dr Brown bottles with the green anti colic bits are fantastic

We tried a few but my little one took to Mam ones best. She hated tommee tippee and the others gave her bad wind. Heard good things about doc brown but didnt try them as Mam did the job!

My first was straight into tommee tippee without any problems.
My second was a bottle refuser so I tried a big range of bottles (some up to £20 each) and never found any that I like more then TT. DD2 never was convinced

I used the mam anti colic one and never had any problems with them.

You can get a free mam bottle if you sign up to boots parenting club if you want to try it out before investing in a full set.

We have dr browns and they leak! I've had to buy three lots of vents (green stick inside) and DD is only 4,5 months old! I even emailed dr browns for advice which they did give me and I followed their cleaning instructions but it didn't change anything. I personally think these bottles can't handle the heat and steam in steriliser.
Having said all that they do work for our DD when they're not leaking.

I have heard a lot of good things about MAM bottles too. In the hindsight I should have gone with them but don't want to change now as DD will soon go on solids so hoping colic will be less and less.

We have the wide neck Dr Browns and have had no leaking issues. Baby has been great with the bottles in terms of colic (touching wood!)

Don’t get the Mam bottles! They are a nightmare to clean and put together when your knackered, then end up leaking.

If you plan on bottle feeding I would invest in the Dr Brown bottles. Everyone I know recommends them and if your baby doesn’t need the anti colic bit they can be used without.

Dr Browns!

We used Tommee Tippee at first and he was just so windy, even their anti colic bottles weren't much good and we used all the colief, infacol etc. We switched and he was so much happier (and in turn started sleeping better!)

We started with TT but dd didn’t like them they doused her in milk and they gave her really bad wind so switched to MAM after reading about them on a similar post on here and they are amazing! I don’t think they’re hard to clean and sterilise, just wash in warm water and soap, rinse in cold water, then put them in the microwave and that’s it, clean! I’ve never tried dr browns but heard they’re really good, bit more expensive and also heard the teats are hard to clean but I think all bottle teats are annoying to clean with the tiny brushes -_- good luck finding the hear right fit, remember all babies are different so trial as many as possible to see what works for your baby :) see if anyone you know has any different bottles laying around so you don’t be have to keep forking out to test what works best.

We have tommee tippee have done right from the start, I didn't really look into it before I bought I just ended up buying them

Never had any issues with them! Dd was windy/colicy at the start but we used colief and that helped her

Heard fab things about the dr browns bottles though I'd maybe go with them

We had Lansinoh bottles, mainly because I was sent a sample bottle during pregnancy so that was all we had in the house when I ran into breastfeeding problems! They were great (combination fed DD). I also used a couple of Tommee Tippee ones a friend passed on but they seemed to make DD windier and she was never very happy drinking from them, whereas the Lansinoh she took to immediately. They have wide necks and were easy to use with formula. They fitted fine in a Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser.

Only problem is they are harder to find - I ended up ordering more from Mothercare click and collect, and later on got the teats from John Lewis click and collect but nowhere in my town sold the bottles.

We've used TT bottles exclusively and never had any issues. I didn't research it beforehand or anything - it didn't occur to me that there would be any meaningful difference between brands! Regardless, it worked out well for us and I'd use them again.

The colic bottles are a bit useless but to be fair DS had reflux and not colic so probably not TT's fault!

We use Tommee Tippee and MAM.dD doesn't seem to have a preference but I prefer the MAM ones. We use the Tommee Tippee Steam Steriliser (would definitely recommend as well- saves you fannying about with sterilising fluid etc) but you can also sterilise the MAM bottles v quickly in the microwave and as long as you don't disassemble them they stay sterile for 24 hours, so they're great for travelling and when we go to see relatives- just pop in the microwave and bring some premade formula, takes a lot of hassle out of it.

I tried my first LO with Tommee tippie bottles but she didn’t take well to them and had colic so I moved her onto the dr brown ones.

With my second LO I tried her with Tommee tippie bottles but she hated the teat (ironically loves their dummies) and it effected her drinking so I quickly moved her onto dr brown which she was fine with.

You might need to try a couple different brands to see which your LO prefers.

We use MAM anti-colic bottles. They are brilliant. Would highly recommend. And as said above easy to sterilize in microwave (5 full bottles in under 15 mins). The anti-colic has been true to word, dd has had very few problems with wind. And the teats are lovely and soft. I know if others who use MAM teats with other bottles too.

@dinosaurkisses to sterilise them in the microwave do you have a microwave steriliser etc?

We use tt when not breastfeeding but we go to parents a lot etc which is a pain when we need to take a bottle as we don't have a steriliser there

mehhh to answer your question about MAM bottles you don’t need a microwave steriliser, just the bottles, a bit of cool water and a standard microwave :) you assemble them with the teat inside the bottle and the base screwed on, then add a cap of cool water from the tap into the bottle then put the lid on top and microwave them :) 1 bottle takes 3 minutes in my microwave (800w)
