Freezer bags for breast milk

Hi all. Just wondered what brand / type of freezer bags any of you use for breast milk? I notice a lot of the bags only hold 5 ounces which doesn't seem much (my baby usually has around 7)

Thanks

Have you tried the Lanisoh ones? The markings only go up to 180 ml / 6 oz bit you can get quite a bit more in than that.

7oz seems like a huge amount of breastmilk to me, how old is your baby?

I use lansinoh. I've found my bf babies can be a bit hit and miss with how much they want to drink at any one time, so it can actually be a real benefit to have milk stored in smaller quantities. Then if they want more you defrost more/put more in the bottle without wastage. Nothing as heartbreaking as throwing away 6oz of expressed bm because baby mouthed the bottle teat for two minutes before changing their mind!

3 months. She sometimes takes a little less but tends to be around 7 oz.

Oh and multiple smaller bags defrost quicker than one full one too :)

Yes completely agree sometimes she takes a little less and yes it's disheartening getting rid of it!

I think bf babies tend to take about 25oz in total a day, there's a calculator on kellymom. I tend to freeze 2oz at a time. Have you looked at paced bottle feeding? Its easy to accidentally overfeed with bottles.

I use the closer to nature bottles. I know she isn't over feeding as she isn't putting a great deal of weight on some weeks

I went back to work early, but expressed, so I did a lot of research on this. I didn't find any bags larger than 5oz (which went in the freezer). There was one which had held more, but you could only freeze 5oz.

Having tried all the key brands, my personal preference was the Boots own brand. Easy to fill, easy to freeze, ease to use. I found issues with all others, either spillage when filling or not sealing or suchlike.

Especially Lansinoh. I loathed those ones. Often fell over whilst filling, frequently leaked what defrosting and difficult to empty into a bottle. I wasted so much milk with them. Angry

I used the lanisoh ones too.

I found one in the back of the freezer with almost year-old breastmilk in it the other week, very useful for clearing Dd's conjunctivitis.

You can use any food grade plastic bag. So regular ziplock bags are suitable heaps cheaper than milk bags
