Pink vomit after breastfeeding

Dd is 4 weeks, mixed fed because I've been struggling badly with bfing since day 1. Today she had a biggish bfeed after a long 3hr sleep and a few minutes later during a nappy change vomited quite a lot of watery pink liquid. She vomited blood the day after she was born but that was darker/brownish and the midwives said it was what she'd swallowed during the birth.

Google suggests now she might have swallowed blood from my nipples but though feeding is painful and my nipples are a little dry they're not cracked and bleeding like they were a few weeks ago. Actually the feed before she vomited was one of the less painful ones we've had!

The liquid seemed slightly more watery than I'd expect milk to be but maybe it was mostly fore-milk? And it was an even candy pink colour rather than being streaked with red blood etc.

Has anyone experienced similar. Can non-cracked nipples still bleed? I'm taking her to the gp tomorrow anyway for a different issue so I'll of course ask then. But she seems well in herself though ever so slightly on the sleepy side.

I really don’t know on this one. Could you phone one of the Bfing Helplines now? Have you got the numbers?

I think it's normal for breast milk to vary in colour. Have you been eating anything red in the last 24 hours? Beetroot, red wine, cherries etc etc?

Not eaten anything red and she normally possets a bit after feeding but it's always been a milky colour before. I've pumped the next two feeds and it's been white so far, as has everything she's brought up. I think it must have been a cracked nipple or something unless she maybe scratched her own mouth. She chews her hands when hungry and her finger nails are a bit sharp. I've googled images of blood in breast milk (lovely!) and it looks a similar colour.

Thanks for replying. Freaked me out! I'll double check with gp tomorrow.
