Can anyone recommend a guide to breastfeeding? I know the midwives will show me, but I would like to read something first, so I'm not entirely clueless! Thanks!

My sister leant me 'the food of love' which is a bit of a cringey title, but I found it a good and easy to read book as a guide to what to expect.

For detailed information, I'd really recommend Kellymom.com and la leche league website. If there's a la leche league group near you, you can go before baby arrives to get some advice and it made it less daunting to go back after delivery as there were a few familiar faces. Everyone I met was friendly and there was no judgement about how people fed - just support.

Congrats, and good luck!

Seconding the recommendation for Food of Love - looks a bit cringe but was a good read.

I've also found Baby Led Breastfeeding by Gill Rapley and Breastfeeding Made Simple by Nancy Mohrbacher quite helpful at times.

YouTube videos and info from Dr Jack Newman might be helpful too.

I like the Womanly Art ofBreastfeeding - funny old fashioned title but it's a great book! It's big but most of the sections are for particular situations you might come across eg premmies etc so you don't need to read any that don't relate to you. The first bits relevant to all are a great intro
