Baby can't use sippy cup!

Have bought freeflow cups for water which DD loves! However she still hasn't got the hang of them after using them most days for a couple of months now! She is 8 months. She tends to suck, which then results in her getting a huge mouthful of water which then ends up all over her! Obviously she still gets to drink it so I think she thinks she's doing it right but just that I disagree!! Not sure on the best approach to help her figure it out! Would like to start giving expressed milk in a cup as she never really took to a bottle (only tried a handful of times) and seems more sensible at this age to go straight to cup - unless anyone has any better ideas??

I use cups with a straw for my daughter who also struggled with freeflow cups. 8 months is still quite little to get the hang of them I think.

Try the munchkin 360 cup it is really good. You can get one with handles or without.

My DS1 went from the boob straight onto normal cups and I bought every bottle teat/beaker/sippy cup known to man. He hated bottles so it was an uphill battle.

One thing that did helped was a Dodie cup (a handled cup that slants down one side to help prevent them throwing their drink down themselves). But there are now loads of options if you look on Amazon under spill-proof cups. There are silicon lid things that you can put over a normal cup, which includes a straw, so little spillage.

She'll get the hang of it. My strapping 14-year old doesn't look too scarred whilst he's chugging his morning brew :-)

My premature 33 week old babies were cup fed milk using normal cups in hospital.
Try a normal cup

Ooh thanks for all your suggestions! I actually looked for a Doidy cup before in bought the freeflow ones but couldn't see them in the shops I looked in! Wondering if the munchkin 360 might be a better option for an enthusiastic drinker though. Did try without the lid a while ago (so it's just a normal cup) without much success but maybe worth trying that again. Perhaps I'm expecting too much of her, thought she should have mastered it by now Blush

Second the munchkin 360 cup! It took Dd a couple of god to figure it out but she cracked it and they are excellent! Plus the silicone bit pops off and can be shoved in the dishwasher so cleaning is so easy!

Try the munchkin cup. DD is now 16 months and can drink from anything independently, including a pint glass if I let her have mine, but at 8 months was definitely spilling anything free flow. She's only tiny still.

Hi vgiraffe We had great success with the mini open baby cups. I can highly recommend them! I've seen them in JoJo's recently and also on Amazon. No tricky bits to clean either. Really good.
