Help needed! Rice pudding issues

Hi all I'm new here and have an important question to ask. I gave my baby cow and gate rice pudding last night and heated it in the microwave. I only used half of the jar. I forgot to fridge it. And didn't think but reheated the rest today. I took a mouthful to check the temperature and it was fine. Gave it to my baby and he seemed happy. Before I could finish feeding him I had excruciating stomach pains and rused to feed him so I could make it to the loo on time. I was in agony on the loo. Have been back 3 times so far. Baby is now asleep. He cried before he went to sleep. Not sure if his belly was hurting too. Now i feel incredibly sick and dizzy when I get up. Is there a chance I have given us both food poisoning? Please no mum bashing I'm genuinely concerned for our health. Thank you

A mouthful wouldn't have given you food poisoning. Leftovers should be put in the fridge and only heated once

Thank you for your response I've been getting more and more worried as the days gone on thinking I have poisoned us both. My baby seems fine a bit grizzly but ok. My stomach is killing and I'm struggling to lift myself off the sofa :-( hopefully it will just pass in a little while then. Thanks again :-)

I'm sure it'll be ok - me and DH used to reheat rice all the time when we were daft students (with no idea about food hygiene!) and not once did we get food poisoning. However, I can completely sympathise because I've had similar scares with DS and am quite paranoid about this kind of thing.

If baby is sleeping he's unlikely to be in discomfort. I'd keep an eye on him and if you're worried phone 111 or go to the dr. It's not worth the stress! In fact I'd probably phone 111 anyway, just to calm myself down.

Hope you're feeling better soon

I'm sure it's fine ! It's very unlikely to have given you food poisoning that quick or just from one spoonful, baby should be fine too I think you'd know by now 😊
Also, ofc no mum bashing everyone makes mistakes!!

Thank you fartniss I've been so worried. He's having a bottle now and seems ok. I didn't want to bother the people at 111 just in case it was nothing to worry about. I will just monitor him and see if anything gets worse then I will call 111. Hopefully the pain will subside soon. Thanks again :-)

I think if baby was suffering as much as you are you'd know about it, so I'd assume it's something else that's made you poorly. Hope you feel better soon.

You wouldn't have food poisoning that quickly. You've got a stomach bug I would guess, the baby might catch it too. Don't reheat food again though, best to put a portion in a bowl to heat and keep the rest in the jar in the fridge :)
