Hi - has anyone been prescribed this ointment & used while breastfeeding? I'm a bit paranoid as I think a small amount comes out in breastmilk, but I'm in so much pain! Thanks smile

No, but if you're worried google the breastfeeding drugs network (I think!) and contact them and they can help you.

You can also do a search on the active ingredients here:

toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/newtoxnet/lactmed.htm

I've just done this (googled the ointment for the active ingredients). Looks fine to me - topical stuff should not reach the breastmilk in detectable quantities, anyway.

But look it up yourself as well as asking the Breastfeeding Network's drugsline.

What a fab website - thank you very much for drawing it to my attention! Unfortunately it had no search results for one of the active ingredients cinchocaine hydrochloride unless I did it wrong?! smile

It's there - check again. The given synonym is Dibucaine....just a different name for the same thing.

I was prescribed it after dc's birth and I was exclusively breastfeeding so I don't think there is a risk to your baby. I always made it clear I was ebf in case there were any risks to be considered when prescribing medicines.
