1 month old sudden decline in feeds?

Over the last 24hrs my 1 month old has gone from taking 5-6oz every 3-4 hours to 2-3oz every 3-4 hours. He's been what I'd describe as "full of wind" i.e. Twisting himself, pulling up legs, winging/crying between feeds on and off but he's bringing up all his wind after the feed. I can hear his stomach growling right now as he only had 2oz 2hours ago but he's fast asleep with no signs of waking. He's otherwise happy, been gurgling away on his play mat with his brother this evening.

Last dirty nappy he had was an explosive one for want of a better word, all the way up his back and down his little legs, he's not had one like that before now.

Could it be have a tummy bug of some sort or is it just one of those things that I'll wake up tomorrow and he'll be back to normal?

I was advised that if baby halves their normal feeds to seek medical advice. Therefore, in your situation I would call 111 for advice. My experience of health professionals with my baby daughter has been that they are very responsive and exercise caution. I hope it all goes well for you and you both have a good night Flowers

Serenrose called OOH like you suggested, the nurse said as he's not refusing feeds and has no temp to carry on as have been and if not change by Monday to see HV or GP

Lo and behold he's been guzzling his feeds like no tomorrow since this morning! Back up to 5oz as if nothing had changed

So he's great, thankyou very much for asking FlowersFlowers
