Has anyone received donated milk from this site?
I have been thinking about sourcing breastmilk for my little boy as I am mix feeding due to low supply. But I just can't make the leap of faith to request breastmilk from anybody.
How do you ensure it's safe?

I donated ~120L through these pages when my DS was 0-1yo.

There were two mums I donated to regularly, they asked to see my blood test results (from pregnancy) at the beginning to check for STIs etc and also checked that I was still feeding my own DC with my milk. I was hardly going to be doing something that put him in danger.

The polite thing is to provide your donating mums with breastmilk storage bags, either in advance if you are in an ongoing agreement or as you do the milk collection.

You can flash boil the milk to 'treat' it if you're worried.

Obviously it's a massive trust exercise. I would always want to see the way the milk is being stored (ie. a decent chest or upright freezer) so I knew it was kept well before I received it.

Thank you. How do I request copies of their pregnancy blood tests? I had to give my notes back to the midwives once I was discharged so I don't have a copy anymore.

I had a copy of mine.

Some recipients ask that the donors get up to date screening done (and pay any associated fees) but mine didn't ask for that.

Also ask them about alcohol and smoking, any regular medication use.
