Anyone know anyone who has hired a wet nurse?

Didn't know it was possible to hire one. Remember hearing a moving story about mums working in rotation to breastfeed the baby of a friend who'd been badly injured until
she was better. Also had a friend who went BALLISTIC when someone looking after her baby breastfed it to stop it crying. A very interesting topic - I hope you get some responses.

lula, don't think you can hire one...it's not the "done" thing...however, it does seem that people get more open about it and are considering it an option in certain circumstances.
not sure if that helps.

I don't think you are allowed to hire one

I know someone who was one though

Do you have a question about it or what?

this is the other thread

Lula - you need to post this in media /non member requests and pay the fee for that..i see from the other thread you are a journalist looking for women who have done this..so probably best to post your question in the right thread and you;ll get responses....HTH ! x

I think you are wasting your time frankly. There are no 'wet nurses'. I don't even believe they exist in the US, I think that bloke is making it up.
Certainly you cannot hire one in the UK. Friends or sisters might informally feed each other's babies and you can donate to a hospital milk bank but that's all.

Hi Morning Paper,
I want to talk to a wet nurse or someone who has hired one - about their personal experiences for a magazine article. They need not be named or identified in anyway.

I have a feeling that my friend has been interviewed to death about it, I think she is the only wet nurse in the country

Put a post on the media requests board?

Really? I've not come across her yet and I've been researching for 2 weeks! (oh dear) I'd love to get in touch with her - even if it's just a quick phone conversation. The magazine I write for is really great. The link is here:

Dear Morningpaper,
I haven't had any responses to my media posting and wondered if you would be kind enough to tell me more about your friend who was/is a wet nurse. I just need one more case study for my article and would be really grateful if you could pass on her contact details.
Please get in touch, it's a positive article all about the benefits of breast milk.
Kindest,
Leo
