Infant feeding

Could this be cmpi? TMI

8 week old ds. Two weeks ago he went from having a poo every 2 days to up to 12 a day. He's had increasing cramps and will grumble and strain for hours, more so in the night. His poo is fairly loose with bits in, the colour is normal. He's mixed fed.
He's had tests for bacterial infections that have come up negative. It's been constant for the past 2 weeks.
The doctor has now suggested eliminating dairy in case it's cmpi.

Does this like the symptoms you'd expect?

Prob easiest first step would be to change formula to a hypoallergenic one - what does your doc suggest? Did the increase in his symptoms coincide with increase in formulA?

Thank you. We've been prescribed some and will trial it, and I'm cutting out dairy. It's true that we've increased the formula to make up for the frequent poos. I don't know if
it makes sense that it came on so suddenly, though.

Check with the doctor, but first step, change formula and only then change your diet. You may not need to change your diet if the change of formula works.

When we were looking at cmpi for my eldest (though older - more like 9mo) we were told that a clear runny nose is a classic sign.

Hope you get answers and a happier boy soon.

My friend's baby can't tolerate dairy (even through breastmilk) and I think the symptoms were very frequent, explosive poos that seemed to burn her skin.
