Dd is nearly three weeks old. After a great start to feeding, things seem to have declined since my milk came in.
She has started to make slurping sounds at the breast, which suggest that she does not have a good seal, and is becoming very windy. This was not present in the first few days, but is a new development, and very frustrating. I don't think she has a tongue tie, as she is able to poke her tongue right out with no problem at all, and had a fabulous latch before my milk properly started to come in.
She now feeds only for around 10-15 minutes, having started off initially with good 30-40 minute feeds.
My boobs feel full regardless of how often she feeds, and always seem engorged at night, even though she wakes for 2-3hrly feeds. I have regular, strong spontaneous letdowns during the day from both breasts, and leak a lot from the unused breast when feeding.
If I take her off in the first minute of feeding I can see that my letdown is strong, several spurting streaks and a heavy fast drip also.
Am I making more than she can cope with? Would that account for the slurping latch that she has developed? What can I do to help the situation?
Thank you!!
