Lip tie at 7 months?

DD2 is 7 months old. She's very out of sorts today so I was looking around her gums to see if there are any teeth coming through and I think she has a lip tie. I've never thought to look before as she's had no problem latching on.

Do I need to do anything about it? Should I get it checked? If it's not causing problems with feeding should we just leave it? It could it cause other problems.

I don't know but strangely I had the exact same thing happen yesterday evening. My daughter is 5 months and again, no major issues feeding. I think it's a lip tie.

I found an article which says if there's no issue feeding then it's not a problem but like you I wondered if it could cause something later on.

DS is 11 months old now and I mentioned it to the dentist recently. He said that as baby is smiling fine and it doesn't seem to be causing any problems currently he will just keep an eye on it as they tend to stretch out as they get bigger. It can cause dental problems later on depending on how severe it is but dentist doesn't seem overly concerned at the min.

Ah okay. Although now I'm questioning if it is causing problems with feeding - slow weight gain, recurrent thrush and back arching are apparently indicators. Although the back arching seems like a relatively new thing. I'm not sure if the NHS would do anything for it now she's over 6 months anyway.
