Infant feeding

LO reduced her feeding

My 9wk old seems to have regressed back to feeding smaller amounts more often over the past few days. From around 5-6oz 6 times a day to an average of only 3- 3&1/2oz per feed 7 times so far today (between 2 & 3 hours in between each)
What do others of a similar age take? Has she just had a growth spurt and is returning to what she should have?

I think it's pretty normal for babies to have fluctuating intake - our LO does. We had a similar situation around the same age and it turned out he has silent reflux. Does your LO exhibit any food refusal behaviour (screaming after a small amount for example) or simply not very hungry?

Hi MiniMaxi. She'll take about 2 or 3oz willingly, then closes her mouth tightly when I try again to give her bottle (once I've taken it off her, burped etc.) and spitting it out if I do manage to get her to open up! Not much of a thrower-upper, and doesn't scream when I try to give her the bottle like you suggested. She's a good size, and is otherwise quite content. I think I'm just a bit panicky! She's letting me know when she's hungry though!

Sounds like she's just less hungry than she was! As long as she's happy (and you're happy!) and she's gaining weight then should be ok. Obviously if in doubt ask your health visitor! Good luck Smile

PS I can't remember exactly what our son was consuming at 9 weeks (corrected for prematurity) but it was more like 3oz 7-8 times a day than 6oz! He's 50th centile or thereabouts.

HNY by the way!
