Floppy Larynx / Laryngomalacia and reflux, regurgitating

Hello,

My beautiful 4 month old has this condition. We have seen a general paed who did not refer us on to anyone else (ie ENT) - was a very short, cursory appointment where she felt as he was gaining weight it was not a concern and he would grow out if it in the next few months.

Obviously I am relieved its not considered serious, but am struggling as would have liked some more specialist advice on feeding and sleeping. She gave us no help or tips on sleeping (apart from putting on an angle) despite me saying he woke up every 30-90 minutes throughout the night even on an angle.

I have now resigned myself to lack of sleep until he gets older, however I am getting more concerned now because his feeding seems to be getting worse. I am breastfeeding and he has always struggled and been a slow feeder, but in the last few days he has started refusing feeds. He will latch on, and once starts sucking the milk immediately starts coming back up his throat in a king of vaccum/suction type way, causing him to gag whilst feeding and get distressed and give up. I don't think the problem is a forceful letdown or latch, both have been looked at by BFeeding consultant. He is unable to latch on/suck any of the bottles we have tried so that route seems closed.

He has reflux and is on ranitidine and whilst this is helping with the pain somewhat, its not having any effect on this problem of milk coming up. We have tried gaviscon but felt it made his breathing worse so I am scared about trying that or a thickener. He also regurgitates and swallows back down after feeds, and used to do a lesser extent during feeds too but it has become much worse.

Any tips really appreciated on feeding, sleeping etc!

Have no experience sorry but didn't want you to go unanswered. Have yiu tried calling one of the Bfing Helplines?
