We've spent weeks researching and testing breast pumps and bottles in real homes with real families. Read our baby feeding bottle and breast pump reviews to find out which ones were awarded Mumsnet Best.

(2 Posts)Been breastfeeding for 7 weeks now but I've been in agony since Friday with mastitis started antibiotics on Saturday. It's my second time having mastitis. Didn't sleep at all on Friday night due to fever then shivering and sweating. I'm so exhausted. Not sure what to do. I feel like an awful mum to my 5 year old as I'm so sore & tired. Didn't leave the house all weekend just lay on the couch feeling awful. She is refusing a bottle so I had to look after her even though feeding and lifting her was so sore.
I've been losing my patience with my OH too as I'm so sleep deprived and sore.
Just don't know if it's worth it anymore. I really really seen myself BF long term but I just don't seem to be feeling any better 3 days later and then what if I get it again in a few weeks time.
And then there's the thought of not being able to leave LO with anyone. I don't have the time to keep expressing so it's difficult to keep trying her with difficult bottles everyday. If I find one she'll take and then I don't have the chance to keep trying her with it I'm worried she'll stop taking that bottle too.
I was BF thinking I was being the best mum I can be but i just don't feel like a good mum anymore as I can barely leave the couch.
Sweetheart, you sound utterly exhausted.its difficult to make decisions when you feel so tired and unwell.is there anyone that can Help with the kids so you can rest bit?if you could get some rest you would feel bit better in yourself and in better state to judge whether you want to stop
If this second bout mastitis have you spoken to La leche league?when one mine was bf they came and watch me feed to see he was suckling correctly.x
