Desperate for a life back!

Hi ladies

in desperate need of some strong tried and tested advice, my 8 month old is not sleeping during the night !!! He finally goes to sleep at around 10pm and then wakes within half hour for another feed, he comfort feeds on and off throughout the night and will wake every hour or so and ends up being laughed on for 5/6 hours at a time.
Because this has been going on and I have been too tired to break the habit he won't sleep in his cot as he's been used to our bed.
I live with interfering mother in law who waltzes straight into our room at his every cry, don't want to wake her or my 6 year old DD in the night so to keep my DS quiet I do what it takes. But I am living like a zombie and my husband and I do not have much of a life anymore!
Please can someone advise what to do???

Thanks so much

That sounds really hard. My ds1 was like this, barely fed in the day and caught up at night.

Firstly, can you put a lock on your door to stop intruders?
Try to feed more in the day so he's not as hungry at night.
Is it worth trying a dummy?

I'd make sure every time MIL walked in I'd either be naked/shagging DH/something equally embarrassing for her... Remind her that it's your space, not for her to just turn up in there when she feels like it! How's the little one with solids? Gentle night weaning, cutting out one feed at a time, offer a bit of water so he doesn't assume he's going to get the good stuff every time?
