Pumping on a work trip - hygiene and storage

I'm on an overnight trip for work. Expressed as I normally do at yesterday - keeping the pumps in the fridge between sessions. Used them again before bed, but have no fridge here so sadly dumped the milk. Also had no dish soap, so rinsed parts carefully with hot water and left to dry. I usually use the dishwasher and then steriliser to get them ready for another day. Would you use today's milk or dump it, given pump parts haven't been cleaned properly?

Also, roughly four hour door to door journey home with no cool bag. Still ok to use milk from the trip?

I'd dump it, esp as no cool blocks. Next time, take a milton tab, a big freezer bag and a klippit and you can sterilise easily. If you take a big tupperware (bottle and ice go in box), you can ask for ice in the hotel or stop at a supermarket and keep milk on ice overnight and in the car

Firat baby i would have dumped it.

Second baby i would have washed it out immediately and used kettle in room to pour boiling water all over it and use the milk having stored it in the Boot of car under something to keep it cool.

Thanks everyone. Second baby here and I never considered dumping it for lack of cooling (have accidentally left it out a few hours after getting back from work several times). But the lack of proper clean does bother me. Boiled water from the kettle is exactly what I should have thought of. Have soap at the conference venue, but then no boiling water. Thought of dumping 30+ ounces is heartbreaking!

Breast milk is ok for about 8 hours at room temperature so I wouldn't dump today's milk.

TBH at 7 months I wouldn't have expressed anything, just waited until return

Would she not get engorged and be in danger of mastitis if she didn't express something. Also helps maintain supply

Don't dump it! Basically clean is fine for breastmilk.

Demented - not at 7months old I wouldn't have thought if it's only one night away. At they age mine would have 3 feeds a day, none at night. So if OP fed once before she left on day one, and againnon day two in evening, then that's only 4 missed feeds.
At 7 months I have been away for a week, and just resumed feeding as normal on return

I still feed twice at night as well as morning and evening, and usually pump once or twice a day at work. I get very uncomfortable after ~8 hours.

I managed a good scrub of the pumps with soap and a dunk on boiling water, so I'll use what I pumped yesterday and today.

Still undecided on the washed-without-soap batch from this morning, but would have thought anti-bac properties of the milk would help minimise risk and that his immune system would be up to the job if he did catch a bug from it. Will feel less cavalier if I make him sick, though. Wish I had a better understanding of the actual risks.
