How soon after you've stopped b/feeding can you go back to wearing normal, underwired bras?? Should you also get re-measured and when??

Hello, i don't know if there's a proper right time, but I put an underwire bra on 2 days after I gave up with no probs at all. And how amazing it is to be wearing decent sexy bras again! I'm a bit rubbih though as I didn't get remeasured - just kind of guessed...

HI - I always went back to normal bras once the breasts had gone down/looked and felt like non-bf breasts again - with me it took about 10 days past the last bf.

Hi. I stopped b/f 2 weeks ago (dd2 7.5 months) and I've just put an underwired bra on today. I haven't had myself remeasured ... I seem to have shrunk yet again though . I think i could set up a lingerie shop with the number of different sized bras I own. Better not have any more babies or I'll have nothing left
My breasts feel like non-bf breasts again now.

I have stopped bf 10 days ago (dd 9.5months), was only feeding at night as gone back to work a while ago, so it was a very gradually way of reducing milk production.
I was still wearing maternity bras until yesterday. I am not sure what size I am now, think getting remeasurd is a good idea.
I loved bfeeding but it definitely isn't a beauty cure for your boobs :-(

oh dear! i put my most fave calvin klein sexy undies on the day after i stopped!

that was about 2 weeks ago now. dd was only having 1 feed per day by then tho.

boobs felt back to normal by day 3, haven't been re-measured tho. am loving wearing proper bras and having my boobs located where they should be again!

saw a pic of me at xmas and boobs were deff bigger then - so was belly!

i'm sure stopping has helped me drop 4kg coz i've done nothing else to make that happen!

I started wearing underwired bras again when DD was about a year old, and I continued to BF for another year. By that stage I didn't have huge solid breast, they felt 'normal' iyswim so the wires weren't pressing in anywhere. I had no problems continuing to BF, and no problems in any other way either. If the size/shape of your breasts has changed since you were last wearing the bras, I'd remeasure them just for comforts sake.

Was wondering the same thing. Stopped bf feeding about 3 weeks ago after 14mths. Been wearing normal bras for a while as only feeding first thing. Went up a cup size after feeding DD for same length of time so really hoping for same thing this time.
Need to get measured and stop wearing the variety of sizes that are in the drawer

I'm still feeding DS (20m) and have been wearing normal bras for about the last year - I hate nursing bras! As long as the wires don't press on your boobs, it's fine. Guess you'd want to wait a few weeks before investing in too many bras though, to see whether your size changes much.

Personally, I wouldn't bother getting measured. The best bras I've had are from Bravissimo - they never use tape measures. They just teach you how a well-fitting bra feels and looks, and help you try on several till you find the right size and style. You can find their advice here .

That's great advice. I was down to one feed only and stopped feeding 2 days ago. I'n hoping I'll be able to get back into my old bras...

I fed ds for 2 years and started wearing normal bras again when he was 1 year old. I just couldn't stand those nursing bras and my breast felt perfectly normal so I moved to normal bras. We reaely fed out of the house so no problem there.

I did have one probelem when flying once though. I'd forgotten to put a nursing bra on (breastfeeding on a flight was one of the few occasions still bfed out of the house after a year old) and the acrobatics of feeding him in public with a normal bra on were not a pretty sight

thanks for the bravissimo link - i've deff got probs with the wire sticking in under my arms with one bra.

it'll be 3 weeks on sunday that i stopped bf dd at 15 months so i think i'll give it another week and then go for a fitting.

Hi shish - how old is your wee one now? Is life a bit easier?

I personally stopped wearing a bra at night when I stopped leaking milk. Stopped the bra before I stopped feeding. You can wear an underwired bra whenever you want really. Just make sure you get a properly fitted one and dno't expect to be the same size as before (although you might be). Initially your breasts feel 'empty' when you stop feeding. Over the next year (yes it takes that long) the fatty tissue is replaced so you are going to change sizes again anyway.

I'm still feeding DD2 who's 12 months and haven't worn a nursing bra for at least a month. I wear normal bras during the day and nothing at night. Never had a problem with leakage etc.

So nice to get back into decent bras too.

Hi mears. He's much more settled now. He suddenly decided to pounce on the bottle a few days before xmas. 3 days ago he decided he didn't want the breast anymore. Can you believe it?? And I was so stressed about weaning him off..

How are you?? I have to say a big thanks for all your support.

like mears I stopped wearing nursing bras when I stopped leaking. it is fine to wear underwired bras if they are properly fitted and you don't pull the cup up, just down and make sure the wire isn't pressing into the breast tissue (According to a bfc)

I'm fine shish. Am so glad that weaning him was not as streesful as you thought it was going to be (told ya )

Next time round you will be way more chilled. Good to hear from you. Take care.

not read through but i switched back to underwire while still bf-ing both times

as long as it's not cuttng in (which it shouldn't be anyway) it doesn't cause any trouble
