Try having a hot bath and massaging/hand expressing from that breast? If it's a blocked duct then lots of feeding from that side is the best way to shift it.

Heat and massaging over the lump help. If it gets sore and inflamed then you can take ibuprofen.

Well, in my (unfortunately quite considerable ) personal experience it does get red and the sooner you get the blockage cleared the sooner it will clear up.

Just keep doing what you're doing (esp the feeding from that side if you can). This can lead to mastitis and make you feel really fluey but if you keep treating it and catch it in time you won't need the doctors.

Have a look here for more info on blocked ducts from Jack Newman.

i've had sore boob now for 2 weeks. It was red and hot but is not anymore but it is still rock hard before a feed and feels very sore (like burning) as the milk is coming in. I keep feeding and the hardness then goes but it comes back and I don't understand why. The other boob is fine and DS is 7 months old. This pain sometimes keeps me awake at night. Ibuprofen helps but I'd like a cure rather than have to take this every day.

Sorry, no idea about this but bumping for you (might be worth starting a new thread?).

Have you been to the doctor? 2 weeks sounds like a long time to have to put up with pain that's keeping you awake at night.
