Colief and breastfeeding?

Our HV has recommended we try Colief after little success with infacol and an uncomfortable little man (5.5 weeks). We're EBF so I need to either express and add this to the bottle or teaspoon.

I have a very demanding little boy and as soon as he decides he's hungry he creates holy hell until he's fed which is going to expressing then adding colief then getting him to take it a bit of a nightmare.

Anyone got any tips on how they've made it work? Do we need to add it to every feed or would every other still work?

I haven't used colief myself, but you might find this article helpful:

I used it with Ds who also created hell as soon as he was hungry. I would rest him on my knee, put drops on a tea spoon and express directly onto the spoon and then give him that and feed straight away. It worked for him but was a bit of a faff but worth it. If I was out and about and couldn't do it easily I would skip the drops for that feed.

Sorry it's been a long couple of days with a colicky baby but I meant to say thank you for the replies and glad you found colief worked for you even when not giving it at every feed as we're currently only managing it with every other feed at the minute (I struggle to express)

My daughter feeds on and off all day so I found I couldn't hand express at all during the day as she 'stole' all the milk. Occasionally I used a pump but could only get a tiny amount. The only way I could do it was to set an alarm at about 1am and pump to use throughout the day. I gave that up in the end as it was such a faff. I emailed colief to ask what to do if you can't express at all and they never replied. I now use dentinox!

Hi Seven201, yes I'm having the exact same problem. And frustratingly I'm missing out on an extra hour of sleep - of very few I'm actually getting! Just popping to the shop so will look at dentinox

HI your prob all sorted now but my LB is currently on colife, what I do is express a few oz with my pump, store it in the fridge and after each feed put a small amount in a cup and warm in the microwave for a few seconds add the colife and give it him via a syringe its so luch easier than giving it on a spoon x
