9mo night feeds

So I'm lying here next to my 9mo old who has been screaming for the last 90 mins wanting feedingSad. He has been waking for short pissy little feeds every 2 hrs for the last month or so and tonight was the night when I'd decided enough was enough. I'm knackered, sick of being in a daze all day because I've had disturbed sleep all night.

He feeds well at bedtime, had another good feed at half eleven and feeds/eats relatively well on the day.

I can't believe how much fucking willpower he has. And how loud he can shout. He is shouting, when I talk to him and tell him there is no more milk he shuts up, he isn't uoset as when he cries and gets in a tizz if he's uoset he does the hiccups sad cry thing. He's just shouting at me angrily.

So how long do I give it? My head hurts, my ears are ringing and am even more tired now than I would be normally Angry

I was planning on doing 1 feed around 3.30, so 4 hta after his last one but now thinking I might push through til 6am. He keeps dropping off to sleep then waking and shouting again. I don't want to pick a random time to feed as don't want to 'reward' him for shouting so long. Or is that daft/mean and should I feed him?

Aargh, this is so fucking hard and knackering. Thank god the 3yo would sleep through anything (and my bastard husband snoring away in the spare room Envy )

So ove offered water and nappy changed as was quite wet and he's still awake and shouty Angry. He looked at me like I was mad when I offered him a cup of water, took a few sips then launched at my boob. I have to be up at 7 SadAngry

I'd feed him at 3.30 like you planned. It would be hard for him to go 6 hours if he's used to every two. He probably won't have much sense of how long it has been if he keeps waking and sleeping.

Hope you both get some sleep.

Mine has been doing this al night too, same age. Maybe some sodding growth spurt? It's making me HATE feeding him, I'm getting so resentful.
Sorry this is no help, but you have my sympathy!

You don't want to reward your son for 'shouting' at you because he is hungry. He has no other way of communicating with you. Feed him!!

They aren't robots! If you were in his position (hungry and unable to get your own food), I'm sure you would be shouting too!

Sorry if that sounds harsh - I do sympathise, my 7.5mo is the same. From 2-3am he is a fussy little pita.

I'm trying to feed him more during the day. And it seems to be helping, a little.

ds1 fed every two hours day and night until I stopped bf at 10 mos. it was the only way I could get him to sleep through. And he wasn't hungry. He was just in the habit of feeding every two hours. He didn't NEED feeding every two hours. He just WANTED feeding every two hours. Or he would scream bloody murder. Even his paediatrician called him fatso as he had doubled his birthweight by ten weeks (he was over 16lbs). He was just a porker. When I stopped bf he gave up waking in the night and slept through within three days. I feel your pain.

We have an almost 8 month old with a similarly loud voice and will of iron who decided he just wanted cuddles and milk with me all night last night. Up every couple of hours then awake at 5am. I am already giving a bedtime bottle and am stopping fb completely at night as of tonight. Let's see if this works. Can't keep this up. You have my every sympathy OP!

I have been doing this with almost 10 mo ds. First was bad in that he was awake a lot and pissed off. But fell over at 2.30 and alept til 4.30 them a quick rock back over til 5. I picked 5 as my 'will feed' cos otherwise he decides it's up time and that is particularly soul destroying after a broken night. Second and third nights much better. Still woke but went to sleep v quickly.

Then he got sick Hmm Angry so back to boob all bloody night. But persevere. He got the message very quickly.

lamingtonutty with respect at 7.5m with both my children I was also feeding on demand night and day, and yes I am well aware that my baby isn't a robot. But at 9mo, eating 3 meals a day and 4 BFs during waking hours, I am confident that he is using me as a sleep aid, especially as the feeds last a few minutes before he goes back to sleep latched on.

Thanks for the support free Bertie and others it was a rough night! He was awake and shouty intermittently til half 3, then slept til 4.20 when I fed him-had a really good feed then slept til my Dd woke him at 7.15!! Which is great as a 3hr block of sleep hasn't happened in ages. Plus he's just wolfed down a massive breakfast which is a first-normally he picks at breakfast as presumably he's full from snacking at night.

Will persevere again tomorrow-I'm happy to feed twice a night (11 and 3.30 ish) and if we can get to that I'll be happy, it's the constant snacking I want to stop.

-but, I found that comment slightly patronising. I shan't comment again, you obviously know what you're doing, God forbid someone with a younger baby comment.

It's fairly patronising to tell me my son isn't a robot! It's a free forum, clearly anyone can comment, I was simply explaining that 6wks ago I was also feeding on demand, but that now I felt that the feeds were too short to be satisfying real hunger and were just an aid to get back to sleep. And quite frankly I've had enough of being a dummy. I don't know what I'm doing-that's why I posted asking for advice and support.
