BF mums rights returning to work?

Hi,

Sorry didn't know what category to put this in!

Only decided today that I will return to work if I can get part time hours sorted. Still BFing and hoping to do so for at least another few months.

Just wondering what my employer has to do by law? Can I get a private room to pump in? Do they give me time to pump or does this have to be taken in lunch break? A little worried as at the minute I only get half a hour for lunch!

If anybody can enlighten me that would be great - slightly nervous about pumping at work!

Hello. What I learnt (for uk) is it's more guideline and recommendations than law. Such as having a place to rest (which you could also use to pump), allowing time to pump (which comes out of your break allowance but they should be more considerate about timings). Good employers are encouraged to have a fridge.
My (massive) employer was clueless to the rules so I had to find my own room and get on with it. It was fine though. Colleagues were very kind. At the beginning I had to pump to relieve pressure as much as maintain supply. It tailed off slowly over a year (still bf 2.9yo ds).
Good luck and well done.

If you scroll down this page there is a link to the PDF guide from ACAS about this. Good luck
