descaling steriliser

I've just done this with citric acid, as per advice on the mothercare website.

the steriliser now stinks, despite me running it empty about 5 times. I tested a bottle in it on the last go, that now stinks too - help! Never wanted to use bloody formula in the first place!!!!!
