Hash cookies affect breast feeding???

I just popped to my friends house, and while I was there I grabbed a cookie from a plate on her table. turns out it was a hash cookie from the night before, and whoops I had eaten one of these quite large cookies already not realising what it was.

Can I still breastfeed, and if not how long do I need to wait? She says they were not very strong.

I wouldn't. Cannabis is known to make its way in to breast milk. Unfortunately cannabis metabolises very slowly (it shows up on drug test up to 3 weeks later) so could affect your milk for weeks. To prevent your supply drying up I'd suggest expressing, at least for a few days and give your baby formula.

Maybe I'm a terrible mother but I would relax (probably pretty easy if you're high anyway ). I've breastfed my daughters whole life so far- she's 18 months- and taken a lot of arthritis drugs throughout. She's not failed to put on weight etc despite that being a possible side effect. I space my does now so that I never feed her directly after taking them but obviously that wasn't possible when she was tiny.

In your position I would probably get some ready mixed formula and give the baby that for 24 hours. If you need to pump and chuck the milk.

Realistically maybe it does stay in your system for weeks but it's not going to effect your milk for weeks. Don't worry too much.
