first post natal period already?

Sorry to give so much detail but ..... had twins by c sec 6 weeks ago, and lochia seemed to have stopped about 7-10 days ago. Then randomly yesterday, started bleeding again. Similar to lochia towards the end and not very heavy. Is it continuation of lochia after a random week long 'break', or am I having my first period already? Weird!

My sil and I both got our periods exactly 6 weeks after the birth of our dcs. Sorry to say it may be your period.

Hello again kitty. I can't be sure as it's a while back now, but I think my lochia came and went like you describe. As you're breastfeeding I'd be very surprised if it's your period (that's not to say it's not though). Mine have only just returned today (!) after 20 weeks and I wasn't bf exclusively.

I used tampons right away.

I formula fed and got it after six weeks. My sil exclusively bfed and got it after six weeks.

I think that it all depends on the persons system.

You poor things! It's been one of the best things about having a baby not having a period for well over a year! When they did start recently there was no pain!!! Hooray - it makes it all worthwhile (not that it wasn't anyway).

I had a baby in september and mine came back at 10 weeks even though exclusively bf. My last child - 6 weeks also exclusively bf .

i' suprised there are so many cases of them starting so soon - what a shame! Think mine may be lochia still as seems to be coming and going. No cramps or anything which is good. Thanks for the advice ladies!

My lochia stopped and started though, could well be that. Unlikely to be a period after a week???

If you've been busy (and it is a busy time) then that could trigger lochia too. had lochia up to 8 weeks with all of mine.

Pads better I'm afraid, due to risk of uterine infection (potentially open cervix)

6 weeks.....could well be a period...don;t use tampons until you;ve had your post natal check though......if lochia had stopped 10 days ago, unlikely to have started again

got my period 6 weeks after c.s and 7 weeks after vaginal delivery...
