Hi, hoping for a bit of advice.
My 5mo baby was tongue tied and had it snipped at 3 days old. Still has a significant lip tie but now feeds well and is growing like a weed.
He has always been a bit bitey - towards the end of a feed he will often clamp down with his boney little gums and pull away. Agony. I push his face into my boob til he lets go and I terminate the feed. This worked well with DC1, but he hasn't got the message, and was still doing it from time to time. But now he is teething and unless I catch him when he is really sleepy he is doing it loads, and it's just awful! He is chomping on everything in sight - his hands, my hands, teething toys - this is all fine but my poor, poor nipples! He has done it at every feed today and I don't know how to stop him.
He is the world's sweetest baby in every other way, and I think part of the trouble is that he thinks it's hilarious when I shriek with pain - he always comes out with an angelic smile. I love him so much, but this HAS to stop. Please help!!

If he's doing it towards the end of a feed watch him like a hawk - mine would sometimes do it when he started to lose interest, and I could sometimes catch it before it happened. If at the beginning (which was more of a problem for me) when latching, concentrate on waiting for a really wide gape and then 'post' your boob as far in as possible. That sometimes stopped the biting, and if it didn't it limited the damage 
. Change of position can sometimes distract them as well. It will pass. I remember thinking 'I'm not sure how much longer I can take this' and it just stopped.
DD1 used to do this, it was agony! I used to slip my pinkie into her mouth and it made her let go, worked every time 
I used to continue the feed if it was early on,if I thought she'd had enough I'd stop.
I can't remember exactly how old she was when she stopped doing it, but it was definitely before she had a lot of teeth! 
Just slip the tip of your finger between his jaw and your nipple and he will automatically open her mouth and stop it.
Ok, thanks for all the advice! I am encouraged that it will eventually stop, was having serious thoughts about weaning!!
