Beaker for 4 month old

My DD is 4 months and ebf. I've tried giving her a bottle of expressed milk but she doesn't like it and I hate that I end up wasting milk.

I still plan on ebf but I've got suspected gallstones and wanted to make sure there's some way for her to feed in case I may need hospital treatment. Plus it would be nice to be able to leave her with DH for a couple of hours so I can have a haircut.

Has anyone tried a beaker at this age? Can anyone recommend one?

You can get soft spout teats, a sort of halfway house..hang on..

Have exactly the same thing with my 15 wk old, the HV suggested a free flow beaker like the tommee tippee one (it says 4m+ on the packaging) or just an open top cup.
She said not to get something with a valve in as it requires too much suck.

You could also try something like a doidy cup as it's angled and you can see the milk coming towards the top easier, babies will lap at the milk.
Could be a bit messy to begin with but might help baby get use to the milk coming from a source other than you.

Oh I'm glad I'm not alone youlemming I remember seeing the tommee tippee beakers so may give that a go as they're quite cheap. I will look into a doidy cup too, thanks.

I had the same with DD1 and running up to returning to work at 6 months I ended up leaving her with my mum and OH for the day and going out until she was hungry enough to take a bottle.
Eventually she did but I'd rather avoid doing that again!

Sounds like faff, but what about off a spoon? My ds lapped it off a spoon before he would take a bottle

Or even using a syringe? Like the syringe that comes with calpol

I've said to my DM that if it comes to it, I will leave DD with her for a few hours. I'd like to avoid it if possible though as my DH tried and she was so upset.

spilly the syringe/spoon may be an option, I can't imagine how long it would take to get a full feed in. It's such a battle giving her calpol after her jabs but maybe better with milk.

Randomly try a straw, my ebf dd took to a straw really quickly, like the kind you get with a carton of juice xx

With syringe do you put it in far enough - onvioudly not too far but i realised mine was just licking it until it came out until i put it a bit further in and he took it better. Yeah moght take a while for a full feed though, but if content atleast give you an hour or so to have a haircut
