...just wondered. DS is nearly 9 months, and breast fed but will quite happily take formula. Am going out with DP for his birthday and would like to have a couple of drinks, just wondered if anyone knows how many are ok?Also, how long does the alcohol take to leave your system - is it possible to formula feed that night/next morning (while expressing the alcoholic boob away, although he's teething - might be helpful!) until its out of my system? Not that i'm planning to get trolleyed - I will still be getting up next morning... Thanks,

God, I'd drink anything I fancied and feed whenever.
Oh, and you can't express the alcohol away. If the alcohol is in your bloodstream a tiny proprtion of it will get into your milk no matter how much you express. And the alcohol will clear from your milk just as it does from your bloodstream, so expressing is absolutely pointless, unless you do it to alleviate discomfort.

A couple of drinks and then breastfeeding as a one off is fine IMO

the alcohol leaves your milk at the same rate it leaves your bloodstream, at approx 1 unit per hour from when you stop drinking. The next morning your milk will be free of alcohol anyway- unless you did get trollied
