Infant feeding

Do we really need all these breastfeeding photos/news articles?

Do we really need to see all this all over the place?

It has gotten to the point where it is being shoved down our throats (no pun intended) and it is making bf quite unappealing on so many levels.

what happened to it being a loving,PRIVATE thing between mother and baby?

Do we really need to see it all over the place and boobs everywhere?

Well, lots of people don't think it is necessarily private. Mothers with breastfeeding babies wouldn't be able to get out and about much if it was.

I don't find it off putting at all, probably because I don't find it offensive, unpleasant or insensitive to see it. The odd woman here or there will post a picture that's a bit OTT but I think that's true of many different aspects of parenting.

Eating isn't a private thing though, unless you have some kind of eating disorder. Do you OP?

I fed my 2 whenever they wanted a feed, wherever that happened to be.

The snugly "private" feeds on the sofa are just one part of bf. In reality people want/need/can leave the sofa with babies.

If you don't like seeing people bf, it's super easy for you to look elsewhere.

no I don't have an eating disorder but i don't want to see boobs and babies feeding on them in the press every day.

we all know boobs are for feeding (if you want then to be) but why do we need to see if everywhere?

No problem with women bf out of the house but why do we need to see examples of that woman with both boobs out with two kids on them in the press?

what possible reason could there be?

You don't get all these 'meet ups' where woman bottle feed their babies all at the same time so why do you get it for bf?

it is OTT and unnecessary.

Lovely - bit hard to look elsewhere when it is all over the news...

I see many women 'privately' feeding their babies out and about.
I see no reason why they need tops down/off and boobs all over the place.

Who gives a shit whether you think it's necessary?

I don't get the privacy thing either. Why should it be kept private?

They aren't all over the place. You are weirdly obsessed.

Perhaps you should stop reading The Sun if you are seeing breasts everywhere.

once again...no.... not the sun....

Are you really seeing breasts everywhere you look? Do you think you're maybe mistaking other things for breasts? Handbags maybe, or baldy men?

SoupDragon · 12/08/2015 18:25

Why "once again"?

I see adverts with formula-fed babies (admittedly over six months old, as under six months is banned) and never an advert with breastfed babies. So perhaps a bit of good publicity will redress the balance?

May I suggest covering up op? A large paper bag should do it. Just pop it over your head.

do you see photos of bottle fed babies all over the place??

It is far far more common to see infants being bottlefed in the press than it is to see them being breastfed.

Far more common than a Goady Fucker with a posting history too.

Or just, you know, not look.

Problem solved.

Meet ups where people bottle feed happen every where all the time, as the majority of babies are mixed or fully formula fed (or fed expressed milk) by 6 months. If you haven't noticed then you're really unobservant!

Ditto for bottle feeding pictures - pretty much any generic picture of a baby is of them being bottle fed, it's a lazy shorthand image for any story about babies.

adverts are not the same as news articles and at the beginning of most formula adverts there is a bf mum so the balance is there...
