Do we really need to see all this all over the place?

It has gotten to the point where it is being shoved down our throats (no pun intended) and it is making bf quite unappealing on so many levels.

what happened to it being a loving,PRIVATE thing between mother and baby?

Do we really need to see it all over the place and boobs everywhere?

CultureSucksDownWords Wed 12-Aug-15 18:02:50

Well, lots of people don't think it is necessarily private. Mothers with breastfeeding babies wouldn't be able to get out and about much if it was.

I don't find it off putting at all, probably because I don't find it offensive, unpleasant or insensitive to see it. The odd woman here or there will post a picture that's a bit OTT but I think that's true of many different aspects of parenting.

Eating isn't a private thing though, unless you have some kind of eating disorder. Do you OP?

LovelyFriend Wed 12-Aug-15 18:08:40

I fed my 2 whenever they wanted a feed, wherever that happened to be.

The snugly "private" feeds on the sofa are just one part of bf. In reality people want/need/can leave the sofa with babies.

If you don't like seeing people bf, it's super easy for you to look elsewhere.

no I don't have an eating disorder but i don't want to see boobs and babies feeding on them in the press every day.

we all know boobs are for feeding (if you want then to be) but why do we need to see if everywhere?

No problem with women bf out of the house but why do we need to see examples of that woman with both boobs out with two kids on them in the press?

what possible reason could there be?

You don't get all these 'meet ups' where woman bottle feed their babies all at the same time so why do you get it for bf?

it is OTT and unnecessary.

Lovely - bit hard to look elsewhere when it is all over the news...

I see many women 'privately' feeding their babies out and about.
I see no reason why they need tops down/off and boobs all over the place.

Oh FFS. <<rolls eyes>>

SoupDragon Wed 12-Aug-15 18:14:58

I see no reason why they need tops down/off and boobs all over the place.

Who gives a shit whether you think it's necessary?

lolalotta Wed 12-Aug-15 18:15:24

I don't get the privacy thing either. Why should it be kept private?

mooma3 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:15:58

Polter - so pleasant

Sbear22 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:16:13

This is the worst thread I've ever seen

mooma3 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:16:51

wow the language!

not that bf should be private but why should there be photos of it all over the place?

do you see photos of bottle fed babies all over the place??

sleepyhead Wed 12-Aug-15 18:18:01

They aren't all over the place. You are weirdly obsessed.

mooma3 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:20:48

errmmmm no...pretty much most days there is some article or something ...

dunno where you are hiding away

SoupDragon Wed 12-Aug-15 18:22:06

Perhaps you should stop reading The Sun if you are seeing breasts everywhere.

mooma3 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:24:05

once not the sun....

sleepyhead Wed 12-Aug-15 18:24:46

Are you really seeing breasts everywhere you look? Do you think you're maybe mistaking other things for breasts? Handbags maybe, or baldy men?

SoupDragon Wed 12-Aug-15 18:25:14

Why "once again"?

mooma3 Wed 12-Aug-15 18:26:18

love how the issue / subject is being ignored.

i am not seeing breasts everywhere - i am taking about breastFEEDING.

no leg to stand on so go on the attack....classic!

YokoUhOh Wed 12-Aug-15 18:26:26

I see adverts with formula-fed babies (admittedly over six months old, as under six months is banned) and never an advert with breastfed babies. So perhaps a bit of good publicity will redress the balance?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut Wed 12-Aug-15 18:26:29

May I suggest covering up op? A large paper bag should do it. Just pop it over your head.

SoupDragon Wed 12-Aug-15 18:27:05

do you see photos of bottle fed babies all over the place??

It is far far more common to see infants being bottlefed in the press than it is to see them being breastfed.

Far more common than a Goady Fucker with a posting history too.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut Wed 12-Aug-15 18:27:23

Or just, you know, not look.

Problem solved.

CultureSucksDownWords Wed 12-Aug-15 18:27:36

Meet ups where people bottle feed happen every where all the time, as the majority of babies are mixed or fully formula fed (or fed expressed milk) by 6 months. If you haven't noticed then you're really unobservant!

Ditto for bottle feeding pictures - pretty much any generic picture of a baby is of them being bottle fed, it's a lazy shorthand image for any story about babies.
