My dd is 5.5mths and feeds up to 8 times.

I did have a great routine going and she stuck to it great with six feeds in 24 hours but last month is has got all messed up and I just wondered what everyone else does.

So can you tell what happens with your boobs every 24 hours

  1. age of baby

  1. how many feeds in 24 hours

  1. times

  1. if on solids

  • how many
  • what times

  1. if you supplement with formula, if so at what feed

thanks

My ds is now just 7 months and until about a month ago was feeding 5/6 times in 24 hours (7.30,11.30,3pm,7pm,11pm) I give him solids and juice now at 11.30 so he is now on 4 feeds a day but I would really like to drop the 11pm feed but I think I will wait until he is settled on this routine.
I hope this helps, I am so unsure about how much milk he is or should be getting, but it seems ok at the moment and he seems happy, so I try not to worry too much. I am lucky I am not back to work yet so I can go with the flow if he needs 10 feeds a day, I will just go with flow and hope it doesn't last too long.XX

hi my ds varies in the amount he feeds .tried to stick to a routine eg 7/11/2/5/7/11 .he is 16 weeks and somedays routine works(sort of),other days it all goes to pot.growth spurts/illness/innoculations don't help.last week he fed 2 horly during day.felt like starting solids but now glad i didn't as feeding 3 hourly-roughly.night sleeping varies too.i always do dream feed 10.30pm if not cried for feed before this .always in bed 7-8pm.wakes up 2or 3 or 4or5 or6 am.sometimes sleeps right through-especially if illness looming!! ps im a midwife-should know what im doing but different when it is your own!!!

dd is 5.5 months feeds roughly 8/11/1/5/7/9 but this is a bit variable, somedays she'll have more & shorter feeds, sometimes fewer and longer. I just go with the flow. No Formula top up. Have started to wean for the last three weeks and now she is up to having up to about a tablespoon of carrot or pear twice a day. the amount of breastfeeds have stayed about the same since weaning though she is taking less milk than she did. Sounds like your little one is either having a growth spurt, or is ready to try some grub. I knew when DD started to wake at night and would also drain both boobs and still want more, didnt help though that I was at my mums for a couple of weeks and she was a lot more active, as we were out all the time - i am sure this made her hungrier. One thing I have learnt: dont introduce a new food at teatime - if it makes em windy or upset you'll be up half the night, up till 4am after trying apple and parsnip combo!

That post makes it sound far more scheduled/regular than in reality but because she is #4, I tend to be on the run with her brothers and sister...

She is still fed on demand but it seems to follow the same rough pattern every day.

  1. age of baby

Erm, my 'baby' is 3.5

  1. how many feeds in 24 hours

0, 1 or 2, depending on nap times and whether I am at home or not

  1. times

morning nap, bedtime. If I'm not there at those times he can go a few days without

  1. if on solids

  • how many
  • what times

Yes he is on solids. My gp did ask me this once when he was 2.5

  1. if you supplement with formula, if so at what feed

No but he does have cow's milk and soya milk.

I don't expect this helps you lc - when he was young I never had a routine - I found it helpful to feed on demand and he always seemed to get a lot from the comfort and security of it
