Lactose Intolerance

For the past 6/7 weeks my DD (10 wks) has been very uncomfortable with her stomach and excessive wind which she can't bring up. Initially Drs said reflux and prescribed infant gavi, then not reflux, then it is, today after another trip with her no better they've finally said could be lactose intolerance, which I've suspected all along, I was dairy intolerant as a baby.

Advised to get some lactose free milk which we have done before our paediatric appt in 4 weeks. Just wanted to know how long it can take to see if it takes effect?? I've also got to cut out all dairy she's combi-fed, goodbye latte hello black coffee!! I know that the dairy won't leave me for a week but she's only booby fed for comfort when her tummy is really bad in the night so predominantly bottle fed.

Thanks fellow mums.

it may be more likely to be cows milk protein intolerance rather than lactose intolerance as breastmilk is also full of lactose (it is the sugar in all milks). Taking dairy out of your diet will not reduce the lactose content of your milk as it is already naturally present in it
