Long time lurker posting on behalf of a friend who has a 10mo that she simply can't get off the boob. She's been trying since her DD was 10 weeks old and has managed (after a lot of different bottle types/attempts) to get DD to drink small amounts of formula when she's out at work etc however whenever she's there DD will bottle refuse and cry for boob. She also co-sleeps and DD is on and off boob throughout the night. It's really getting my friend down as she's more than ready to pack in BF for work reasons amongst others. Any advice on how to wean her off the boob would be much appreciated!

She doesn't need to give a bottle at 10 months - a sippy or free-flow cup would be fine. I'm going through similar and have got my DD to take formula out of a cup and just breastfeed for sleep now (bad habit but quickest way to get her to settle).

Agree not to bother with bottles at that age, DS2 never went for bottles but was happy enough to drink out of a cup - an open Doidy cup at first, then a Nuk free flow sippy.

I will check with her but I think it might be a case of her DD refusing anything but the breast. I do know she's tried a million different types of bottles though as she passes them on to me! Thank you for the replies however Smile

Having checked with her she says she has tried sippy cups as well to no avail - DD will refuse regardless of whether it's breast milk or formula!
