DS1 is ebf and normally a good feeders feeding every 2.5 to 3 hrs during the day. On 50th centile and alert and happy. Today though he's barely eaten since 5am. He did his first decent sleep last night from 8pm to 2am (usually 12.30am), fed at 2am and fed again at 5am. Wasn't interested in feeding until 10.15am when he had a small feed. Offered again at 1,2 and 3pm and barely touched anything. Now just at home I tried again and he's getting really upset so had to stop. Now he's fallen asleep on me. Any ideas? This is so out of character for him so I'm concerned.

Is his nose blocked?
What is his breathing like?
Is he having wet/dirty nappies?
Are you breast or bottle feeding?

I've actually wondered if he has a bit of a cold over the last few days as he sounds a bit hoarse at times but his nose his clear (and I have one of those sucky things) and otherwise seems ok, maybe a wee bit pale. But as he's been feeding ok and smiling etc I have t been worried. He was cooing and smiling today in between me trying to feed him.

Oh and he is having lots of wet nappies. Last dirty one was after his 10am feed (he tends to poo after feeds) but none since.

I think you just have to keep observing him and offer feeds.
I would seek advice if he doesn't have a wet nappy - as long as his mouth is moist and his fontanelle isn't sunken, he may just be getting more efficient at feeding, but getting most of his milk at night.

You will know if he wants to feed all night!

Any sign of a temperature, rapid breathing or distress, you can reassess.
