Is your baby lactose intolerant?

The GP thinks this may be a possibility. No colic/reflux interventions have been successful thus far. Has the symptoms of lactose intolerance. I'm not very good with lactose myself. 13 weeks old.

I've got 4 tons of this I need to give away (they thought DS2 was lactose intolerant but turned out he wasn't) so if you live near me, its yours!

*Tins, I'm not sure where 4 tonnes would fit in the house!

Lactose intolerance is pretty rare in babies and usually quite serious - can you get him tested for it before switching milk?

I asked about him being formally diagnosed but the GP said that it wasn't necessary & that this formula also helps babies with temporary intolerance - which apparently doesn't show in tests. GP advised to try it for two weeks and see if things improved before doing any formal testing.

Has there been any improvement since you started the formula? Lactose intolerance can result in 'foamy poo' which contains air due to the undigested lactose. Ds has an intolerance to the cows milk protein in formula and is on a hydrolysed formula. If there is no improvement on the lactose free it may be worth trialling a hydrolysed formula.

I would just try it and see tbh. My DD1 was the most miserable baby, she would literally just scream inconsolably all day and all night. HV thought it might be lactose intolerance and suggested we try it, there was a huge transformation within a couple of days. She's now 2.9 and seems to slowly be outgrowing her intolerance.

My little one seems to be slightly more settled. I don't know if it's coincidence or the SMA LF. He has stopped having explosive nappies which we were having several times a day. His poo wasn't foamy but it was very loose. Every nappy resulted in a bath as he'd be covered.

Hope things improve soon. Before we changed ds' s formula he would spend most of the day crying. Found it really stressful.
