Hi
My son had a posterior tongue tie snipped on Thursday, he was then only 8 days old. Unfortunately there hasn't been much improvement in feeding yet.
I can still feel the gums chomping and my nipples are still sore. He has better tongue function and we have been encouraging him to move it around, stick it out etc etc but the latch is still rubbish and even when it starts well he either gags because the milk comes to fast or he just slips into a nipple chomp which I quickly put an end to!
Does anyone have any experience of how long it can take for the baby to learn to use the tongue properly or any tricks to speed up the process?
Also, I have noticed he has an upper lip tie - the top gum bites too but I am uncertain whether the two are linked or if it's just a rubbish latch. Seeing the midwife Monday but looking for some help/hope to get through the next two days of toe curling pain.
Cheers
